Today I’m choosing author Michelle Paver. Her novels Dark Matter and Thin Air are two of my favourite books. Dark Matter is about an Arctic expedition and Thin Air is about an expedition to Kangchenjunga in the Himalayas. Both of them are ghost stories, set in the 1930s, which play up to their environment; the sunless situation of Dark Matter and the altitude struggles in Thin Air. If you like your horror reads to be subtle and filled with creeping dread, I urge you to read these two books by Paver if you haven’t already.
